Our Philosophy

Supporting the efforts of BIPOC families in raising joyful and confident young people is at the core of Nature Time's teaching practices and philosophy.

Our educational philosophy revolves around providing love as a foundational need for a child's growth and development. We are dedicated to establishing an affirming learning space where every child feels seen, heard, and valued. With a daily structure that allows children to flourish at their own pace, we recognize and honor the unique developmental journey of each child, empowering them to explore and learn in an environment that encourages their individual growth.

Expansive, curious play

We firmly believe that play is a fundamental right of childhood. Cherishing the many ways children play during our forest school days, our educators actively encourage self-expression, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills through play. By nurturing their natural curiosity and providing a joyful and engaging environment, we lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

Hands-on learning in nature

We also offer children opportunities to closely observe the cycles of life and seasonal transformations of plants, landscapes, and creatures through fully immersive experiences. Hands-on engagement with soil, the texture of leaves, and the flowing water of the creek cultivates a deep sense of appreciation and stewardship, and enriches a child’s understanding of themselves in relation to the world and the interconnected network of care that supports them.
