Family Circle Forest School

Celebrating the gifts of each child, the learning spaces are co-created by uplifting the students' voices, hopes, and interests. With the forest as our classroom, our small groups of students engage in hands-on learning among bay laurels and coast redwood trees. Our small student-to-teacher ratio offers us an opportunity to move at the pace of our youngest child while still providing opportunities for our older students to challenge themselves physically and artistically, and supports their developing curiosity and attention. The play-based learning environment not only encourages creativity but also provides a platform for older students to build confidence and share their skills with their younger companions. Simultaneously, the younger students eagerly observe new possibilities and approach personal milestones, like the thrill of tree climbing.

During our school day, children are welcomed into an artistically rich, musically vibrant, and literacy-engaged environment that integrates into our daily rhythm. Our art and writing table offers a therapeutic space for communication and self-expression that remains open throughout our day. It's a special place where children feel privileged to share about themselves and their daily lives, creating beautiful moments of commonality and affirmation.
